Different instructors teach in different ways and many will tell you one way is wrong and another is right – they are just different.

In order to ensure students learn – deeply understand, connect with, and are able to utilize – the information that is being offered I find this structure works best. There is a lot of information, both intellectual and energetic, and four levels allows for a clear integration path without being overwhelming.

Choosing your Reiki teacher is like choosing a restaurant.

The first time I took Reiki I went the cheap route. The Mcdonald’s version. It was quick, convenient, and I thought it would sustain me even though I wasn’t too sure what I just ate. This was a ½ day training given by donation. I received a glimpse of what Reiki is about and an attunement I really didn’t understand. Needless to say, in a few hours, I was hungry again; somewhere in me I knew that wasn’t all the nourishment Reiki had to offer. I got back exactly what I invested= not much.

Some years passed before I realized it was worth investing in myself. It was worth two days of my time and a dollar amount that stretched me in order to have an experience that would last a lifetime. It was like skipping McDonald’s and instead choosing to a 5-star restaurant with fresh farm-to-table ingredients that I could savor. It was choosing nourishment that would fill me with joy, change my view on how great food could be and become the new standard by which I viewed what’s possible in the world. It was choosing something that would sustain me for a lifetime rather than just a few hours.

So I began reiki training again and this time I invested in myself. It terrified me to give my time and energy–I didn’t feel I had much and what if something came up and I needed it. Now, seven years removed, I can say with absolute certainty that the return was (and still is) off the charts. It was worth every cent and every moment to study with someone who knew the value of what they offered. As a result, I created a deep connection to the magic of reiki and formed a relationship with it that would guide my entire life. I could speak about knowledgably about what I learned and was empowered share it with others. My vibration increased exponentially as reiki nourished my spirit. The personal growth and spiritual development I experienced exceeded my imagination. Plus I gained not just a teacher but a mentor who’s connection to the Earth inspires me to this day.

There’s nothing wrong if you want to go to McDonald’s but if you want to know what is truly possible, how far you can really go, if you know you are worth it, give yourself permission to invest in the 5-star experience.
